Al-Awda New York, The Palestine Right to Return Coalition

IAP-NJ ACTION ALERT.
February 5, 20001

The Islamic Association of Palestine NJ chapter (IAP-NJ), in accordance with its mission to educate the American public about the Palestinians and their struggle for freedom, has spearheaded a state-wide educational campaign designated to disseminate accurate information about the current conflict in Palestine and the subsequent devastation unarmed Palestinian civilians have faced as a result of that conflict. Beginning on December 12, 2000, IAP-NJ sponsored a statewide advertisement series, aptly entitled "Who are the Real Victims", in over 20 different newspapers in the greater New Jersey area (click on icon below to see ad).

Not surprisingly, following the IAP's ad campaign, the Palestinian people in general, and the IAP in particular, have been made the object of the most virulent attacks courtesy of wild-eyed supporters of Israel. Many of these indefatigable defenders of Israel have targeted editorial pages of the Bergen Record, the Herald News, and the Star Ledger demanding, very vociferously, that these papers prohibit the publication of such ads in the future.

This scurrilous effort on the part of Israel's supporters to muffle the voice of the Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim-American people has gone on unabated since 12/12/00 and has prompted certain editorial boards in the New Jersey area to relinquish all ties with groups or organizations who speak on behalf of the Palestinians. It is imperative that Palestinians and their supporters confront these rabid apologists by contacting the aforementioned newspapers and debunking the sensational mendacities these individuals have littered
various editorial pages with.
