WITH AL-AWDA AND NAN IN SUPPORT OF CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS WORLDWIDE The United Nations World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance (WCAR) is set to begin August 31, 2001 in Durban, South Africa. The US is threatening to withdraw participation in the WCAR because of the insistence that a discussion of Israel's racist/apartheid policies toward Palestinians be removed from WCAR's agenda. Al-Awda NY-NJ will join National Action Network (NAN) on Saturday, August 25 in their movement for civil and human rights worldwide; and to raise public awareness of Israeli policies that deny full civil, political and human rights to non-Jews and the apartheid nature of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Stip. ACTION: Be with us from 12:00PM - 5:00PM at the United Nations, Dag Hammerskjold Plaza, 1st and 42nd St., NYC where we will be protesting America's attempt to bully the WCAR conference if US desires to ignore Israeli racist/apartheid policies toward Palestinians are discussed. We will also be demanding an end to International Racial Profiling.
