ANNUAL
RACIAL JUSTICE DAY MARCH AND PROTEST AT THE UNITED NATION RACIAL JUSTICE DAY 8-31-01 Gather at 4:30 pm 43rd St. b/w Broadway & 7th Ave March to United Nations steps off 5pm (212) 894-3749, x1479 This August the world will gather in South Africa to take a stand against global racism and xenophobia at the United Nations World Conference Against Racism. In solidarity, New York City will take its place in front of the United Nations. An annual march and rally, this year's Racial Justice Day will also be a PEOPLE'S TRIBUNAL holding the U.S. accountable for its racist domestic policies directly affecting people of color communities within the U.S. and abroad. For 10 years Racial Justice Day has involved many sectors of the movement, from parents of those murdered by the police, young people, immigrant workers, LGBT communities, artists, and all working for social change. THIRD WORLD WITHIN is a NYC-based network of people of color organizations. Our purpose is to highlight domestic issues resulting from U.S. racism and economic restructuring; to educate and mobilize communities of color around these issues, and to work in solidarity with activists, organizers, and communities in the Third World to demand accountability from the U.S. government and international institutions for their role in developing and maintaining destructive policies and institutions.
