This year Al-Awda is proud to include The Young Activist Program in our upcoming Eighth Annual International Convention which will take place the weekend of April 30 - May 2nd, 2010 at the Embassy Suites Hotel Anaheim South. Organized for and by students & youth, the program promises to be one of the highlights of the convention. The Young Activist Program is free* for those who register.

The Young Activist Program - will take place Saturday May 1, 2010 from 10 am to 4 pm. It is set to include:

Hands on Workshop: Building Coalitions and Sustaining the Future - Led by UCSD students. This session is an opportunity for students and youth to discuss strategies for campus activism.

Poet Mark Gonzales (Human Writes Project) will be leading an exciting Spoken Word workshop called "Life | Lyrics | Legacy"

Roundtable Discussion with Dr. Mustafa Barghouti - Young activists will have the opportunity to interact directly with Dr. Barghouti while discussing several topics including how to support the cause; what role Americans have in the struggle; and most importantly how to organize advocacy for the Palestinian Right of Return to their original homes and lands.

Traditional Folkloric Dabke Class - Back by popular demand, members of San Diego's Zaytouna Dabke will teach steps and techniques for traditional Palestinian Dabke!
