Results of Annual Al-Awda Los Angeles/Orange County Chapter Board Elections

Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition is pleased to report the successful conclusion of the annual Los Angeles/Orange County chapter board elections which took place on December 12, 2010. The meeting began with a review of the chapter's work over the last year. The chapter's treasurer then submitted a financial report of the chapter's activities for the year. The independent CPA financial review and accounting policies, procedures and activities of the national Al-Awda organization were then explained and discussed. This was followed by a discussion of some of the chapter's priorities for the following year including the upcoming Ninth Annual International Al-Awda Convention, which is scheduled to be held in Garden Grove, California on the April 29, 2011 week-end.

The nomination and election process then took place.

The following are the results:

Two chapter coordinators and representatives to the National Coordinating Committee of Al-Awda were elected. They are Amani Barakat and Mazen Al Moukdad

Additionally, the following board members were elected:

Treasurer - Anis Zubi
Secretary - Mary Singaus
Refugee Support - Emad Asfour
Fundraising - Souzan Amer
Media - Ghattas Khoury
UCLA Students Rep - Dana Saifan
Outreach - Eyad Hamadah

Al-Awda, The Palestine Right to Return Coalition thanks last year's board of our Los Angeles/Orange County chapter for their dedication and hard work which led to significant growth in our chapter's membership and participation. We wish the new board success in its work and in meeting the continuing challenges ahead.
